new homework round the corner! stay tuned!

Homework 89 - Psychonaut Headsplit Remixes

Heres the Ustream session from the Louis Den homework we hosted a week or so ago. The weeks goal was to turn in remixes to the track Illmind produced track "The Headsplit" taken from Sonnyjim's new album "The Psychonaut LP".

Louis Den Homework 89 - Headsplit Remixes

In the lab were myself, Myke Forte, Sonnyjim (to pick his favourite) and EATGOOD's Redbeard. There's HD Youtube edit on the way as well as a new homework challenge; look out for em both, but for now enjoy!

Lab Session 72 - Sesame Street Beats

Last weeks session was dope!, not a great deal of beats but the quality was all there; myself and Kela were joined by the EatGoood crew Sonnyjim, Redbeard and Taharka as we played back the beats with plenty of jokes; good work guys!

To view last weeks session or any of our recorded streams peep our ustream channel located at http://louisden.com/live or for last weeks in particular its embeded below!.

Louis Den Homework 72 - Sesame Street Joints

new homework next!.

Homework 64 - The Russ Freeman Joint

Thanks to everyone who tuned into Wrastlin' week, was just myself and Kelz in the lab as everyone else had commitments but it was still jokes and the heads that did tune in got to hear some ill beats, session audio coming up soon.

Next homework we're returning to the ldbb roots of a straight sample flip but this one is a little themed as its related to the Behind closed Doors Vol 2 DVD that myself and Ab0181 dropped!

Behind Closed Doors Vol 2 Preview

Ok so one of the features of the DVD is a "Wrapped Up" (taken out of its usual christmas environment) Kelkovski and Shears exchange records to make an on the spot beat, If you've watched the DVD you'll know Shears digs a record (Russ Freeman's - Noctornal Playground) which has an IIIIIL sample he thought Kela would have flipped but when it came to it Kelz did a total u-turn and went for another track on the album.

Whilst Kelz final beat was dope (check the DVD to hear for yourself) it did leave that very nice sample all abandonned and unflipped...that'll be your job for this week in the.

Homework 64 - The Russ Freeman Joint

RULES
Your job this week is to craft a beat from the sample provided, adding synths and your own sounds is all cool just as long as you use the sample for the main portion of the beat (no micro stabs/chops please!! use the samp as the foundation!). This challenge is open to all beatmakers who wanna get down/build with us, just do the damn thing and turn in a banger!!

DEADLINE
Beats must be submitted for 18:00 27th June, submit the beats to homework@louisden.com as an attachment...dont sendspace/zshare links..its much easier this way.

LINKS
Bag the original sample here sendspace | youtube

Good luck and we'll look forward to playing them back live at http://tinyurl.com/ldbblive

Homework 63 - Wrastlin'

Ok, well after a weeks break we're back with a new challenge; this one is going to involve some digging in order for you to get something suitable to fit with the theme.

Kela came up with this idea after South Park week which incidently didnt turn up many entries!! maybe it was down to a lack of source material (which hopefully we'll make up for with this challenge).

OK enough talk, here it is.

Homework 63 - Wrastlin' Week

This week we want you guys to flip classic wrestling themes into brand new beats, now obviously theres lots of federations and generations of wrestlers as time has gone by; but when you do say wrestling to most people it conjours up the classic WWF roster (back when it was called that), so that'll be what we're looking for you to flip.

Of course you can take more recent themes but the classic ones are gonna be ones most of us recognise (and will probably make better beats!)

RULES
Make a beat using wrestling theme music (golden era WWF preferred!), use the net/diggin or whatever methods you can to track down some theme music and hit the lab to make a fresh beat!

DEADLINE
Beats must reach us by Sunday 20th June 2010, stream will start between 18:00 and 19:00, try to get your beats in before then to make it! email entries to homework@louisden.com (directly attached please no sendspace links...dont be lazy!)

LINKS/RESOURCES
A little googling found some useful links, detailed in the text file below.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/j35ri9

* vids for other sessions are coming!! be patient..theres lots going on at ldbb at the minute

be sure to check the beat cypher this week if you are in and around the Birmingham area UK!, its gonna be dope!

Homework 62 - Music From South Park

Back with another challenge, we've done a couple of the 2 week joints so hopefully you're back into the swing of things and can deliver beats in the usual 4-5 day time frame we set the challenges on!.

Fat shout to everyone who tuned in for the streaming of 120bpm beats, some interesting numbers no doubt! the videos for that and the little brother session are on the way (slight computer hitch held up proceedings) but be patient!! I've set time aside to play catchup!.

Onwards and upwards with a new challenge, continuing with a theme rather than a set sample flip; we figured it'd be cool to visit a TV theme again, this time being one from a show that a lot of Den heads dig! (and is notorious for its great songs throughout its seasons/films)

Homework 62 - Music From "South Park"

Ok so this weeks challenge is to flip South Park music, that is music that has come from the show either from its soundtracks (bigger longer and uncut / chef aid / mr hankeys xmas classics) or the unique songs that have come from many of the episodes throughout its 14 (and counting) seasons.

RULES
To create a fresh new beat using some music from South Park (either an epsisode or movie/soundtrack) as the base. The beat should contain elements of the original track manipulated to form your new beat, a random beat with some South Park voices/sounds is not enough!! try harder!

DEADLINE
Beats are due no later than 18:00 6th June, beats should be emailed to homework@louisden.com please dont send us download links; create an email and attach the beat in question to it!.

We'll be stremaing live from the lab (or Kos HQ) shortly after the deadline at http://tinyurl.com/ldbblive stay glued to the @louisden tweets to find out whats going on!.

You've had enough of a break now!! lets get these blaps going!!.

BOOM!

Homework 59 - Martial Arts Week

Ok we're back with our next challenge; the Soundsci remixes are almost ready to drop; the blog and music player will surface today but before we get into that lets drop the next challenge from now so you can hit the lab and get busy!!.

Homework 59 - Martial Arts Week

This week the challenge is to flip music from martial arts films or films with martial arts actors..alright so obviously this is open to interpretation seeing as you've had someone like Jackie Chan in all sorts of randomness but yeah try to respect the theme and keep it authentic..and of course turn in a heater!!.

RULES

Create a new beat from a martial arts soundtrack/movie or a film; dig your own sample up and feel free to add your own elements BUT as always the sample has to form the main element of the beat, submit your beat to homework@louisden.com (this address has been verified and unless you get a bounce back email we will have received your blap..TAKE TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU'VE SENT THE RIGHT VERSION as we most likely wont check the entrants until its lab time)

DEADLINE

Beats have to be turned in by MONDAY 15th FEB 2010 18:00, thats right a MONDAY..we're doing this one a little different as we cant hit the lab on sunday..we'll do the usual live stream at http://...com/ldbblive so stay locked to the @louisden twitter for updates when we start.

lets goo!!

LOUISDEN FORUM IS BACK ONLINE

Ok we back!!, check the banner to enter the forum.

IF YOU REGISTERED AFTER APRIL 2009 YOU WILL NEED TO RE-REGISTER, all details regarding the server crash are located there...give it a read then holla at me if you are having any problems.

lets get it.

KOS.

Need League Login? / Forums

Ok, thanks for bearing with us, the boards WILL BE BACK TODAY!, re-installed everything and found a backup from a few months back so im most likely going to just restore the members and pour a little 7up out for the lost threads no point in puttin up old news so I think its a case of destroying and rebuilding but hopefully if you registered for the boards before april your logins should be intact.

Finally if you are struggling with the league site as you cant find your password then first check your spam folders...I did send out mails to each and everyone of you during dope ass beat 2 voting week but if you still cant find it dont panic, hit me up

kosyne[at]louisden[dot]com

and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

NEW VOTING KEY REQUEST WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE BOARD IS BACK, producer entry is CLOSSSSSSSED, If I said you were in then you are fast running out of time to holla at me (those who did I chased back up) and im unsure you can actually turn a beat in for Sunday now and its plenty work doing the matchups so im leaving it here..

bang

KOS.

Back but not quite :(

Ok so we out the otherside and it turns out there was a server fault over at our hosting company, no worries for the most part the shop is back and the league images should be working as well and be accessible just like before BUT...what makes this one a bit more interesting is the fact they DONT backup any data on our particular hosting plan.

Which means we've lost the forum!!...I can get it back again and im working on it right now but we will only have up to when I last backed up (which was a minute ago!!).

Best case scenario
I can get us back running to our last backup, heads who joined the forum less than 2 months ago will have to register.

Worst case scenario
Well lets not go there just yet eh?..

hold tight..

IF YOU REQUESTED A LISTENING KEY FOR THE LEAGUE OR WAS ONE OF BATCH OF NEW HEADS WHO WANTED TO JOIN HIT ME UP ASAP! YOU NEED YOUR SAMPLE FOR THIS WEEK!

Kosyne[At]louisden[dot]com

bang..

louisden.com down!!

What up world, dont be alarmed I've been told by our webhosts FREEOLA that they are experiencing difficulty with one of their webservers and as luck would have it, its the cluser Louisden.com is hosted on.

Its a bad look as it means its taken out the shop, parts of the league, the forum and more obviously the actual louisden.com front page. I've been told they're looking into it so please remain patient and keep it locked to see when we come back up.

Till then our blog is still accessible (you're reading it now heh...)

LEAGUE NEWBIES, hold tight soon as we're back I'll get you your details so you can collect your samples!.

Louis Den Beat Cypher 6 (FS Green, Sir OJ, Shears, Urban Monk) - Round Two

Gotta get this out there for anyone whose been sleeping!...If you havent noticed we've now changed the front page on LOUISDEN.COM (which should be your main point of entry to our sites/blog) and we've got an even more obvious button linking you to my man AB0181's Youtube channel which is the ONLY other place on the tubes you can get LouisDen content other than the ldbb one (which gets updated every now and again!).

Round 2 from the Cypher a couple weeks back which featured FS GREEN, SIR OJ, SHEARS and URBAN MONK. Crazy beats all night and in a similar fashion to Round 1, theres plenty more heaters in round 2..So yeah follow all the heads on twitter, subscribe to Pro's youtube and spread some comment love!!.

Remaining August Beat Cypher 06 Lineup!

What up people, thanks to everyone who tuned into the live stream last night, we've got a new homework dropping later today and a full post about beat cypher 06, but just to hold you down till let me drop the names of the remaining producers for beat 06!.

Joining FS GREEN will be fellow Amsterdam producer SIR OJ, they've both collabed in the past dropping the State Beat Tapes together and their dope "Remixing" project. OJ is part of the dope collective Slumgullion who also had a project out a while back called Disko; dudes crazy with the beats and should make the beat cypher even more ill (as if it wasnt already!!!).

Finally, some Birminigham support in the form of URBAN MONK. Monk's put in time behind the boards producing for the likes of MD7, MALIK, ESTELLE, AKALA and more; no stranger to the beat cyphers he's turned out many a open beats session and will no doubt have bangers to drop!.

Also the PA's for beat cypher 6 will come from SEROCEE & J-LEEN, CHIMA ANYA and Eatgood records own TAHARKA!!, gonna be one hell of a night!!.

So yeahhhh there it is, start spreading the word!, facebook events, myspace spammage and all that good stuff will commence from now!!.

tell a friend to tell a friend!!.

LouisDen BeatCypher 05 DONE!

Theres always a bit of a weird feeling after a Beat Cypher joint, the heads who come down disappear, I cash up and figure out how much a success/flop the night was and generally we over anaylze each part of the night to see where we could have improved..pretty bitter sweet!.

*Photo's by KARL BAXTER

ANNNNNNNYWAY, Beat Cypher 05 was very very dope, I still cant beleive we pulled it off and managed to get so many accliamed producers sharing a small space and letting us here their creations, much love to ODDISEE, BABY J, CHARLIE DARK, MORGAN ZARATE and KELAKOVSKI!!! <--- even tho he probably doesnt think he did anything!! pfff KELZ blaps were soooo on point that night he was no where near out his depth amongst the line up.

Also props to ETHEL CEE who essentially came down and played it by ear and still rocked it, I know the US Beat night joints seem to be more improv but it seems overhere we love knowing everything before hand (and in the case of this beat cypher I was a little short on pre-beatcypher beats), YUNGUN and MYSTRO also killed it (especially MYS' contraversial accapella hahaha).

Thanks to CRO and the EATGOOD fam for holdin it down hosting/merch/runnings (SONNYJIM,READBEARD,TAHARKA,LEWIS) and my brother Rich, cousin Michael and me lady for sortin the door out. Theres just way too much that goes into a beat cypher and everyone helped to make it go smoother.

Finally thanks to all the regulars who came out (I see you) and any new faces, BEARD reckons a lot of out of towners came out to see ODDISEE, hopefully you'll stick with us..remember the one off BASS festival event enabled us to put on a Beat Cypher on a bit of a higher level but dont get it twisted other than 1 big name everything else came out of pocket...aint trying to put any business out there but this beat cypher was x3 more expensive to put on than a typical one!! we aint stopping tho the only direction is up so we'll be back in August with more illiness..

LDBB Episode 49 Up!!

GO check the Myspace now to peep the chat show blaps session!, some nice beats in this one.
